The TCM Klinik Bad Kötzting, affiliated with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, also known as the China-Germany TCM Center, is the first traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital in Germany. Located in Bavaria, it has a history spanning more than thirty years.

Guided by TCM theories and principles, the hospital prioritizes treatment outcomes. Leveraging the distinctive strengths of TCM, it offers integrated medical services, teaching and research, demonstrating the value of TCM in disease prevention and treatment. By 2018, the hospital had treated more than 27,000 inpatients, with a clinical efficacy rate exceeding 70%. Its longstanding success has enabled it to extend services to patients with mental health disorders, further broadening TCM’s therapeutic scope. It remains the only TCM hospital in Germany where inpatient care is covered by health insurance.

Beyond clinical services, TCM Klinik Bad Kötzting actively promotes TCM through teaching and research. In collaboration with the Natural Medicine Center at the Technical University of Munich, it conducts studies on the safety and efficacy of TCM therapies.

The hospital also plays an active role in advancing international collaboration in TCM. Together with the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), it organized the inaugural China-Europe TCM Cooperation and Development Forum, attended by representatives from China, Germany, Australia and other European countries. To date, five such forums have been held. In 2008, the clinic received the International Contribution Award from the WFCMS. It has been featured by media outlets in Canada, South Korea, Germany and other countries, and its staff have presented successful case studies at international conferences, establishing the hospital as a model for the global promotion of TCM.
