BUCM and BFU forge strategic partnership

On March 19, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) and Beijing Forestry University (BFU) held a strategic cooperation meeting at BUCM's Heping Street Campus. Key figures included BUCM's Party Secretary Wang Yaoqi, President Tang Zhishu, and BFU's Party Secretary Wang Tao, among others. The meeting focused on interdisciplinary integration, joint talent cultivation, collaborative research, and industrial development.

Wang Yaoqi welcomed the BFU delegation, emphasizing the natural synergy between BUCM's expertise in traditional Chinese medicine (CM) and BFU's strengths in forestry. She stated that this collaboration is crucial for advancing national strategies in education, health, and ecological civilization. The partnership aims to deepen cross-disciplinary cooperation, fostering talent with interdisciplinary skills.

BFU's Wang Tao highlighted the pioneering roles both universities play in their fields, which provide a solid foundation for mutual learning and development. He suggested a phased approach to collaboration, starting with teaching and research, and gradually expanding to comprehensive cooperation. This strategy aims to leverage each university's strengths for mutual benefit and high-quality development.

President Tang Zhishu discussed the potential for collaboration in areas such as ecological planting of medicinal herbs and CM germplasm innovation. He emphasized the need for interdisciplinary teams to integrate resources and achieve significant outcomes in key areas like under-forest planting and germplasm protection.

Participants agreed to focus on medicinal plant resource protection, under-forest economic development, and ecological health integration. They committed to drafting a special cooperation agreement to advance joint platform building, project research, and talent cultivation. This meeting marks a substantive phase in the strategic partnership between BUCM and BFU.
